Yes We Did!

Barack Obama is President-elect of the United States of America!

Obama-Uncle Sam
I feel like I'm watching an episode of the West Wing, but it's real. Wow, what a night for our nation.

We have great challenges to overcome, but I have so much optimism for our future. I don't think I have ever been prouder to be an American than I am tonight.

Yes we can did! Now, it's time to get to work.

Obama really does seem like an Aaron Sorkin creation, doesn't he?

I just hope the next four years are as enjoyable and thought-provoking as 'The West Wing.'

Jim, I can't agree with you more that now it's time to get to work. Driving in to the office this morning I realized that, as hard as this election was, the hardest part is to come. There's no way we can judge this president on his first 100 days...Obama really WILL have to work on Sundays. (To paraphrase a great Will Ferrel skit.)

What has warmed the cockles of my heart is seeing almost all the bad feelings of the past eight years that the world has had towards America melt away in seconds.

My Dad, who knows his presidents and his US history, said when he switched the TV on and saw Jesse jackson crying, he had the same lump-in-the-throat feeling he got when Nelson Mandela was released; two things he never thought he would see in his lifetime.
