Public Service for Michigan Fans

As everyone probably knows by now, Rich Rodriguez has followed John Beilein to Michigan. As a Public Service for UM fans who may be stopping by (Hi honey!), here is some background info from MSNSportsnet on WVU's other key coaches, just in case you're interested.

Women's Basketball, Coach Mike Carey
Currently ranked #13 in the country. Lost in Big East final last year. Went to 2nd round of NCAAs. 79 wins in the past 4 years.

Baseball, Coach Greg Van Zant
Van Zant has won BIG EAST championships (regular season and tournament), earned an NCAA Tournament appearance and churned out 39 players who have were drafted or signed contracts with Major League Baseball organizations, including 22 pitchers. Van Zant has produced three All-Americans, the BIG EAST Pitcher of the Year, the BIG EAST Player of the Year, 41 all-conference players, a first round draft pick and two Academic All-Americans. He has been named BIG EAST Coach of the Year twice and ABCA East Region Coach of the Year once.

Women's Gymnastics, Coach Linda Burdette
Thirty-three years of coaching, more than 500 wins, nine conference championships, 29 trips to regionals and four trips to nationals.

Men's Soccer, Coach Marlon LeBlanc
The 2006 Soccer America National Coach of the Year and FieldTurf-Tarkett National Coach of the Year, LeBlanc took over at the helm of the West Virginia program on the opening day of preseason camp in 2006 and helped the program reach new heights. The Mountaineers posted a 15-3-3 record in 2006 with a perfect 9-0-1 record in BIG EAST play, marking the first time a team in the conference went undefeated playing at least a 10-game schedule. The 15 wins in 2006 are the most ever in school history.

Women's Soccer, Coach Nikki Izzo-Brown
Izzo-Brown has spent the past 11 years turning a one-time infant program into a perennial national contender. In 2006, Izzo-Brown’s club enjoyed eight straight weeks in the top 10 of the NSCAA/adidas coaches poll and reached its highest ranking in that poll ever at No. 6 after opening the year on a 10-game unbeaten streak. This past fall, Izzo-Brown won another BIG EAST regular season divisional crown and took her high-powered offense to the NCAA tournament for the seventh-straight season as WVU scored a school record 55 goals in 21 games.

Wrestling, Coach Craig Turnbull
Over a span of the last 29 seasons, Craig Turnbull has built one of the strongest and most dominant programs in the nation. The four-time Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) coach of the year has all the important ingredients in place for another run at NCAA dominance in 2007-08.

As for your beloved hockey, you are on your own. We don't have a team. Sorry.

UPDATE: This was supposed to be a joke, but today we learn that Michigan interviewed WVU Women's Soccer Coach, Nikki Izzo-Brown, earlier this month.
Families will move, too, and not only has Rodriguez left his alma mater for Michigan, but he follows former men’s basketball Coach John Beilein, who made the same move in early April.

Worst yet for Garrison, Pastilong and the Mountaineers is they might not have suffered their last loss.

Sources say women’s soccer Coach Nikki Izzo-Brown interviewed with Michigan this month to be the next coach there. Izzo-Brown could not be reached for comment Sunday.

As Mike Casazza noted this morning, "This is getting ridiculous."
