Lakewood Church Mission Update

Almost a year ago, 7/19/05, I posted a screenshot of Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church's website, specifically their Missions page.

At the time, the page almost mockingly said "Need Content", which I found to be a sad indictment for a church with 30,000 people attending services each week.

It should be noted that their website is HUGE and includes a number of videos and online resources. This is not one of those websites with pages that are continually "Under Construction".

So now, it's been a year since Lakewood moved into the former NBA arena home of the Houston Rockets, and I thought I would check the Lakewood Church mission page once again.

I was curious what mission work has this huge megachurch helped support in this year of Katrina and natural disasters and the continuing challenges of war and poverty throughout our world?

Well, I am pleased to report that the Lakewood Church mission page no longer "Needs Content".

The bad news is that "Need Content" has been replaced with "More Information is coming soon!"

Anyone care to venture a guess as to when the new information will be posted?

Of course there is some good news. If you want to make a donation online to support the Missions Fund, the website is all set up and ready to go.

Donations

Perhaps, the donations will help them get up on their feet, so they can get started.

I guess I just don't understand what it really means to "Discover the Champion in You".
